Computer problems interrupted online ISTEP tests for thousands of Indiana students Tuesday and today.
The problems apparently occurred at CTB McGraw Hill, the state’s testing contractor. Up to 10,000 of 200,000 students statewide were forced to stop testing and wait up to 15 minutes to resume.
The online testing is part of a pilot project by the Indiana Department of Education. Districts were asked to have at least one grade level take the ISTEP completely online, but those lacking in technology resources did not have to participate.
Some districts now are worried that the computer glitch will adversely impact student scores which also could affect district ratings, growth measures, and other such evaluations.
Statewide, about 500,000 students are taking the ISTEP this week through May 4.
