Outdoor Track: Windsor 4×400 team earns All-American at national championships

  The Windsor 4×400-meter girls team finished fourth, earning All-American status, and Windsor freshman Sydnee Over was seventh in the 400 meters at the New Balance Outdoor Track and Field Nationals Friday and Saturday in Greensboro, North Carolina.   Over lowered the state record, which she broke earlier in the season at the Hartford Public Invitational (54.77), finishing in 54.41. Windsor’s 4×400 team of Brianna Allen, Ashley Graves, Sydnee Over and Shayna Presley ran 3:47.16, also setting a state record.   

   Chris Rose of Classical Magnet, the State Open 200 and 400-meter champion, finished 13th in the 400 (48.56).   Other top state finishers: The Hamden boys team of Nick Saba, Isiah Whiting, Patrick Cyr and Chris FitzSimons, which won the 4×800 relay (7:35.68), and its distance medley team of Nick Saba, Kevin Trah, Isiah Whiting and Chris FitzSimons, which won that event in 9:56.50). Jackie Nicholas of Nonnewaug finished second in the 2000-meter steeplechase (6:54.57) and the Hand boys 4×1-mile relay (Brendon Fish, Dave Cotton, Andrew Haff, Daniel Nestor was third (17:23.42).
